Clarence Henderson Endorses Matthew to #WinForNC
In 1960, on the second day of the Greensboro sit-in, Joseph A. McNeil and Franklin E. McCain are joined by William Smith and Clarence Henderson at the Woolworth lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina. Clarence Henderson was in the forefront of the civil rights battle as he bravely stepped up to participate in the sit-in at the Woolworth’s diner. Today, Mr. Henderson is a champion for freedom and conservative values. In 2000, Mr. Henderson was the recipient of the 40th Anniversary Sit-In Participant Award and in 2013 he was appointed by Governor Pat McCrory, to the Chairman seat on the North Carolina Martin Luther King Jr. Commission. In addition, Governor McCrory conferred in 2016 The Order of the Long Leaf Pine Award to Clarence with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary. As of May 2017, Mr. Henderson was appointed President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation for the State of North Carolina.
Clarence Henderson, President of The Frederick Douglass Foundation of NC, endorses Matthew to #WinForNC in NC House District 7:
“All my life, I have sought to be a champion of liberty in our nation and our state. Liberty isn’t something reserved for a few, but it is something given by God to all. It is also something that often needs to be fought for, and once gained, protected. We need people in the General Assembly who will cherish and defend liberty, and that’s why I endorse Matthew to represent NC House District 7. I’m confident that he will be a champion of liberty for ALL people in our community.”

Fonzie Flowers currently serves as the Mayor of Youngsville, NC, where he manages the overall town functions for over 1,250 residents, including 14 full time employees, 5 part time employees, 6 town commissioners, as a budget of 1.5 million dollars. On his free time, Fonzie volunteers as the president of a Youngsville non-profit youth soccer league.
Fonzie Flowers, Mayor of Youngsville NC, endorses Matthew to #WinForNC in NC House District 7:
“When my wife and decided to move to Youngsville, several things about the town sold us on the decision: the proximity to where I work, the year-round elementary school for my kids, the outstanding parks and recreation as well as YAKS soccer, the safe family environment, and especially the overwhelming pride and sense of community that all Youngsville residents share. Matthew Winslow is not only a model of that communal pride, but also a model of someone who is always looking to give back to his neighbors. Whether it’s his work revitalizing our downtown buildings, serving on economic development groups like the Committee of 100, or his service with nonprofits like The Education Foundation and the Wake County Habitat for Humanity, Matthew Winslow is the type of guy who loves helping the people of Youngsville. He would make an excellent public servant for our community, and has my support to become the next Representative of NC House District 7.”
